Boy are we making hard work again this year…we have not lost a game but were dropping points against lowly outfits like Portsmouth and Birmingham.

After a long football career which started the usual way, by playing for schools then on to our local rep’s side, then on to play for my county- then after being spotted by a scout, 5 years with Brighton and Hove Albion, then many county sides and local teams.
I found myself teaching football, becoming our local county rep’s manager, then managing Worthing Minors Youth F.C for many years with much success winning just about all there is to win, age and injuries caught up with me and it was time for Nik Bird to hang up his boots and time to develop my other love Golf!!

Along comes a son Marcus Bird….

full of talent and at the age of 6 was playing up two age’s with littlehampton Colts, but then along came a scout!!! here we go again…and my lad found himself down at the training grounds of Portsmouth F.C!!!
Many ex pro’s I know say he’s a chip off the old block, but it’s his future and if it’s meant to be then so be it.
He is only 8 but his idle is Stevie Gerrard, wears no 8 and already looks like a mini version..good luck son.

Well I’m starting to think that yes it’s early day’s any fool knows that, but I just have a feeling in my bones!! that it is going to be our year!!
I was out in Turkey last year sitting with a bunch of reds watching the charity shield against league pretenders Chelsea who were so sure that they were going to beat us, win the league and gain revenge against Liverpool in the champions league….

Well i’m there with a fanatic Man utd mate of mine who said the champions this year will come from these two!!! united are building a young side and were not any where near ready yet!!!! ( wrong )

LIVERPOOL 2 CHELSEA 1….we took the shield home… champions league… Liverpool beat chelsea….again and go on to our 7th final… and low and behold who wins the league…..eeeeeerm yes utd!!!

So i’m going to say with a smile and a bash of luck.. with the squad we now have, the way we are playing, and I like what the tv pundit said this week that LIVERPOOL hunt in packs now, attack in packs and celebrate in a pack… bring it on, yes I’m gonna stick my neck out and say we’ll be there, top of the pile this year, and boy is it overdue!!!!
Were the best in europe and soon its time to start getting a few pretty silver cups from ENGLAND…
